today at the clinic, i met a wise old man. he touched my heart with his soft voice, enchanting stories and examples. his silver hair, cropped neatly sparkled under the orange light. but most of all: it was his eyes- translucent grey; sparkling and dimming as the story plunges in and out of climax. i seldom look into people's eyes when i speak to them. i find that experience too intense. but yet, i stared right into his beautiful grey eyes the whole time while speaking to him. i dont know what, i dont know why, perhaps it was his voice, his stories, his well meaning advise, his gentleness and peace loving kindness, or his lively eyes - he touched my heart. perhaps too, his sincerity when speaking about the koran and his muslim faith. no, i am not shaken at all about my faith. i know who is my real God. but really, though the man didnt say it, but i knew this is what he meant and what he lived his life by: acceptance of all people. he spoke to all, accepting all.
speaking to people in an accepting manner is the most powerful way to connect with them.
on another note, sophie just gave me a new challenge of sorts. hmm. i told her "can!" like i always say when she asks me to do things. but this is really a challenge. hmm.
